Disney’s live-action remakes have had varied performances as of late. Mufasa surpassed Sonic the Hedgehog 3 during its box office run, though it received mixed reviews. Snow White also received middling reactions and struggled hard at the box office.

Nostalgia as entertainment is nothing new. But it has not yet been fully exploited for the Zillennial age demographic, now one of the largest age groups in the U.S.
