Akers, who spent half of the 2024 season as the Texans ' No. 2 runner, agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the New Orleans Saints Friday afternoon. He will join the franchise as a backup to Alvin Kamara, along with returning secondary option Kendre Miller and rookie Devin Neal.

The New Orleans Saints signed free agent running back Cam Akers to a one-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed in the team announcement on Friday for Akers, who participated in the Saints' minicamp on a tryout basis.

"I'm still hungry and I'm young," Akers said at Saints mandatory minicamp. "I've got a lot of tread on my tires, and I want to rewrite my story personally."
