HBO's lavish period drama, created by " Downton Abbey's " Julian Fellowes, returned for its third season on June 22 to record-high viewership. About 2.7 million U.S. viewers tuned in across platforms within the first three days of the season premiere, HBO said.
Matlock fans are sure to be excited as CBS announced that the courtroom show with Kathleen Bates has been picked up for a second season, which will air in the 2025–26 season.

Matlock Season 2 premieres Sunday, October 12, at 8:30/7:30c on CBS. Note that it’s coming out on a Sunday for Season 2 Episode 1, but it will still air on Thursdays throughout the season after that. The Matlock Season 2 premiere will be one hour long. It will be followed by the Elsbeth Season 3 premiere at 9:30/8:30c.
