President Donald Trump said Tuesday the federal government would not finance California’s high-speed rail project, escalating tensions over the state’s long-delayed infrastructure plan.

The government was already investigating how the state was spending a federal grant on the train project to connect Los Angeles and San Francisco.

The President has targeted federal funding for the California bullet train project since his first administration.
