One person died Wednesday afternoon at a construction site at a southwest Houston apartment complex in what a spokesperson for the Houston Fire Department referred to as a trench collapse. The fire department was dispatched to the Stone River Apartments at 8901 Bissonnet St.

Workers had been digging a 15-foot-deep trench on the property when it collapsed and trapped a man. Houston Fire Department officials said a man died at the scene.
