Egypt has blocked activists taking part in a planned march to Gaza, halting their attempt to reach the border and challenge Israel’s blockade on humanitarian aid to the Palestinian territory before it could begin.

Demonstrators from 80 countries planned to march to Egypt’s Gaza border to highlight the worsening humanitarian crisis, as Israel’s aid blockade since March continues despite a slight easing last month that experts say remains inadequate.

Egypt says its side of the Rafah crossing remains open, but access to the Strip has been blocked since Israel seized the Palestinian side as part of its war with Hamas. View on euronews
