Inter Milan defeated River Plate to take first place with seven points and Monterrey scored five group points to claim the second spot in the Club World Cup's Group E.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) -Monterrey booked a spot in the knockout rounds of the Club World Cup with a thumping 4-0 win over Urawa Red Diamonds at the Rose Bowl on Wednesday to claim second place in Group E and set up a last 16 meeting with Borussia Dortmund.

Monterrey scored three goals in a 10-minute span of the first half and went on to defeat the Urawa Red Diamonds 4-0 and advance to the knockout rounds in the Club World Cup.
