Riverbanks Zoo is open daily, except Thanksgiving and Christmas, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Parking is $5. Adults over age 13 are $21.99 and children’s tickets are for ages 2 to 12 for $18.99.

Riverbanks is an urban zoo: There are no wide-open spaces between exhibits, a plus when you're traveling with kids or seniors who can get tuckered out or can't handle iffy winter weather.
The zoo said Thursday that Robin, a 49-year-old African elephant, passed away. She was the eldest female elephant at Riverbanks.
