The Trump Administration is giving ICE a new way to identify people living in the U.S. illegally by accessing the data of those enrolled in Medicaid.
A plan to give Immigration and Customs Enforcement access to the personal data of all 79 million Medicaid enrollees – including more than 2.6 million Michiganders – is being condemned by both the American Civil Liberties Union of Michigan and the Michigan League for Public Policy.
States must begin verifying millions of Medicaid enrollees’ monthly work status by the end of next year. Critics say this may be difficult.
