Andreas Christensen could be offered a contract extension by Barcelona following news that Inigo Martinez is set to leave the club and join Al-Nassr. The Dane had been tipped to leave this summer but has made it clear he wants to stay put and see out the remaining year on his existing deal.

From a purely footballing perspective, Martinez will be a big loss, as he was such a unique piece in Flick’s Barcelona side; the only naturally left-footed centre-back, which, combined with his polished technique, made him a key asset in the build-up.
