The US attorney’s office in Washington, DC, is hoping for a new era of relative calm as the top federal prosecutor in the nation’s capital switches from one outspoken, controversial ally of the president to another.

Justice Department officials are preparing to swear in former Fox News host Jeanine Pirro as interim U.S. attorney for Washington, D.C., on Wednesday. Pirro, a former New York judge and prosecutor, was named by President Donald Trump last Thursday to a 120-day interim appointment.

The current Fox News host has not yet been nominated as the capital city’s full-time federal prosecutor, but Senate Republicans seem ready to get behind her candidacy as Ed Martin's replacement.
