Dillon Dingler drove in three runs, Charlie Morton pitched six strong innings and the Detroit Tigers blanked the Minnesota Twins 7-0 on Friday in Minneapolis.

Dillon Dingler could’ve gone with something close to home when approached about a custom painted catcher's mask for Players Weekend. But the Massillon, Ohio, native and former Ohio State star turned Detroit catcher knew better.

However, Dingler is changing that standard in Detroit. Through 56 games, he is slashing .271/.300/.432 with seven home runs and a 106 wRC+, which ranks fifth amongst AL catchers.

Dillon Dingler isn't just a part of the Detroit Tigers' future — he looks like a cornerstone piece. "He's someone we can win with," A.J. Hinch said.
