The Edmonton Oilers beat the Dallas Stars 3-0 in Game 2 of the 2025 Western Conference Finals as Dallas continued an alarming trend this postseason.

In the world of heavy knee and shin pads, a slash normally doesn’t do enough damage to derail an NHL player; but the slash delivered by Edmonton Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse in the third period to the lower left leg of Stars center Roope Hintz appeared to do the job of a mob hit. “We didn’t like it,” Stars center Jamie Benn said.

The Dallas Stars were left frustrated following a 3-0 loss to the Edmonton Oilers in Game 2 of the Western Conference Final, not only because the series is now tied 1-1, but also due to an incident involving Roope Hintz and Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse.

Dallas and Edmonton aren’t exactly geographic rivals, but that doesn’t mean these two teams don’t have a rich history.
