Multiple people on board a private plane that crashed into a San Diego military housing neighborhood early Thursday are dead but no one on the ground was injured, authorities said.

Several people are believed to have died after a small plane crashed into a residential street in San Diego on Thursday morning.

Several people were injured while trying to flee after the crash just before 4 a.m. in Murphy Canyon, the largest neighborhood of U.S. Navy-owned housing in the country.
