U.S. equities and options markets will be closed on Jan. 9 as the country observes a National Day of Mourning for former President Jimmy Carter, who died Sunday at the age of 100.

Carter's remains will be taken to the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. The funeral service will be broadcast across both network and cable television, including CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, CNN, MSNBC, CSPAN and Fox News. Spanish broadcasts will be available on Telemundo and Univision.
