Independent Dan Osborn announced another bid to represent Nebraska in the Senate on Tuesday, challenging GOP Sen. Pete Ricketts after his loss in an unexpectedly competitive race against a Republican incumbent last year.

Dan Osborn is planning to announce Tuesday morning that he will challenge Sen. Pete Ricketts in the 2026 midterm election.

Independent Dan Osborn announced another run for Senate in Nebraska on Tuesday. Earlier this year, Osborn formed an exploratory committee to run against sitting Sen. Pete Ricketts. Osborn lost against Republican Deb Fischer in the November election with 46% of the vote.

Former Nebraska senator Brett Lindstrom is kicking off his campaign for the state’s 2nd Congressional District seat.

Independent populist Dan Osborn, whose insurgent Senate campaign seriously threatened one of Nebraska’s Republicans from securing a third term last year, is now taking on GOP Sen. Pete Ricketts — one of the wealthiest members of Congress.

"It's the CEO versus the mechanic," said Dan Osborn, former labor leader and U.S. Senate candidate, as he launched a challenge against Republican Sen. Pete Ricketts of Nebraska on Tuesday.

A rural clinic in a district Trump won by more than 50 points has been forced to shut down, with the CEO citing "cuts to Medicaid."

Brett Lindstrom, a former state lawmaker and financial adviser, is running to represent Nebraska's 2nd Congressional District and succeed Rep. Don Bacon.
