A 45-year-old New Jersey man accused of sexting with a Utah girl remains jailed there while charges are pending against him, authorities said. Paul T. Carroll is charged with seducing/luring a minor by internet or text, a second-degree charge, and third-degree dealing in materials harmful to a minor, according to Cache County jail records.

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy signed a bill ordering the Attorney General’s Office to establish an online database to keep track of sexual assault forensic evidence kits, commonly referred to as rape kits. Murphy, who signed the bill Thursday, said the legislation is a “ well overdue bill .”
