Michigan, air quality and wildfire smoke

Prepare for poor air quality from Canadian wildfire smoke and rising temperatures today, with rain and thunderstorms expected to return midweek.
On July 15, rain and thunderstorms are expected in southern Michigan and in the Upper Peninsula. Then, more rain and thunderstorms are forecast statewide on July 16. Widespread haze is included in the forecast for northern Michigan as the Canadian wildfire smoke moves over Michigan.
The alert is an extension of an existing alert that was issued statewide Saturday and expected to expire Monday night because of drifting wildfire smoke from Canada. But the conditions for Tuesday will be more region-specific and are attributed to a forecast of elevated ozone levels.
