However, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, while Gray has been reluctant to let the Cardinals shop him, his stance could change if they embrace a full rebuild.

In a somewhat disappointing season for the St. Louis Cardinals, the team could reevaluate a trade involving starting pitcher Sonny Gray. The pitcher would have to waive his no-trade clause.
