A new report claims Marvel is looking for up-and-coming actors to play the X-Men in its rebooted film series – and, if true, it might solve one of Spider-Man: Brand New Day 's biggest mysteries.

This in turn establishes roughly where Spider-Man: Brand New Day will take place in the lead up to Avengers: Doomsday, the events of which kick off 14 months after Thunderbolts*, according to that film's post-credits scene, which appears to show the arrival of the Fantastic Four in the MCU from their alternate timeline of Earth-828.

The latest Spider-Man instalment sees UK actor Tom Holland reprise the titular role, with Destin Daniel Cretton directing. Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are expected to return, with Sadie Sink joining the cast. It is scheduled for release in July 2026. Amy Pascal produces alongside Marvel president Kevin Feig.
