By Kantaro Komiya TOKYO (Reuters) -Japanese company ispace said its uncrewed moon lander likely crashed onto the lunar surface during its touchdown attempt on Friday, marking another failure two years after an unsuccessful inaugural mission.

Resilience, a lander built by Japanese-based company Ispace, lost contact with mission control during its attempt to land on the moon.

The loss of the second mission could lead NASA to rethink its plans to use a larger Ispace-designed lander for a mission to take science experiments to the far side of the moon.
