Much of the Metroplex saw rain over Wednesday, Jan. 29, and overnight into Thursday, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth. As of 11 a.m. Thursday, the NWS said some of the highest rainfall totals over the stretch included 4.61 inches in east Fort Worth and 4.13 inches at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.

The Dallas-Fort Worth region is expected to end January and start February with several rainy days, according to the National Weather Service. While there is currently no forecast of severe weather, the NWS said scattered showers are possible Saturday night — particularly along and east of Interstate 35 and south of Interstate 20.

Showers and thunderstorms will increase in coverage throughout Wednesday, from late morning into early afternoon, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth. North Texans can expect a dreary day full of patchy fog, sporadic rain and cloud cover.

Heavy rain fell in the Dallas-Fort Worth area Wednesday night into Thursday morning, creating flash floods that forced road closures and left vehicles stranded in high water. More than 4 inches of rain had fallen in the area as of Thursday morning.
