Now that he’s had time to review the tape, Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer is sharing his thoughts on the team’s performance in the preseason opener.

On the first drive, the Cowboys’ defense got the Rams into a 4th and 6 near midfield. Stetson Bennett went right after Booth going against Xavier Smith. Smith beat Booth clearly and was able to haul in the pass to get the Rams inside the ten.

Schottenheimer has stressed more team drills in training camp practices than the man he replaced, Mike McCarthy, as he believes they help his team develop. If the Cowboys practice the right way, Schottenheimer says, it can only help in games. And the plan is to increase the workload of his players each practice.
