Before the final votes were tallied, American Idol runner-up John Foster used his voice to honor friends he lost. The 18-year-old country singer first performed his original tune "Tell That Angel I Love Her" during the Easter Sunday special in April.

In April, “American Idol” hopeful John Foster advanced from the Top 20 to the Top 14 with a performance of his tearjerking original song “Tell That Angel I Love Her.” The 18-year-old Louisiana singer penned the tune about his late friend, Maggie Dunn, who died during his junior year of high school.

John Foster paid tribute to his high-school friend with a rendition of his original song at the American Idol finale where he came in second.
