The Greer Fire burning in eastern Arizona has scorched 20,425 acres and was 39% contained as of May 19, according to InciWeb, a federal tracker. Fire officials announced the first reported control of the wildfire on May 19 as a result of "extensive" firefighting efforts on all sides of the wildfire.

Fire personnel in eastern Arizona have spent the last week working to get control of the Greer Fire, which has burned over 20,000 acres since May 13.

Firefighters took advantage of good weather to activate significant air support on May 15 but were bracing for winds to pick up over the weekend.
