The Trump administration warned three Democratic lawmakers Saturday that arrests are “on the table” after they participated in a protest at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Newark, where the city’s Mayor Ras Baraka was collared.

The legislators were with Mayor Ras Baraka when he was arrested Friday outside an immigration detention facility. A Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman said they could face assault charges.

Democratic New Jersey Reps. Rob Menendez, LaMonica McIver, and Bonnie Watson Coleman were at the facility with Baraka to protest the ICE prison.

The contrast between ICE officers in camouflage fatigues and the “nice old ladies” protesting outside the immigrant detention center might have been comic if not for the guns and plastic wrist cuffs the officers carried and the violent confrontation between Newark Police and other demonstrators the night before.
