Linda Yaccarino never had an easy job at X. The social media platform's CEO was always overshadowed by its owner, Elon Musk, whose activities made it more difficult for her to lure advertisers. Now she's gone.

Musk tapped Yaccarino to replace him as CEO in 2023, shortly after purchasing the platform, then called Twitter, for $44 billion in October 2022. He said Yaccarino would focus primarily on Twitter's business while he focused on product design and new technology.

Yaccarino announced her departure on X, saying that she is “immensely grateful” to Elon Musk for taking her on in 2023.
