TikTok is full of entertaining cat videos, humorous dances, and yes, even challenges -- the famed ice-bucket challenge has returned and is promoting mental-health support. But now a dangerous TikTok challenge is spreading through the short-form video app and through schools across the US.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools principals are warning parents about a new TikTok challenge. The trend is known as the ‘TikTok Chromebook Spark Challenge.’ The trend includes tampering with Chromebook charging ports or power supplies to create sparks. School officials say the challenge could cause damage to school property and inflict serious injury.

On the social media app TikTok, teenagers are sharing videos of school-issued Chromebooks spewing spoke. WCCO’s Marielle Mohs explains how schools are trying to stop the social media stunt.
