Sunday's big event honored the late NYRR president and New York City Marathon co-founder Fred Lebow. To mark the occasion, Lebow's cousin, Ezra Feig, was among the participants.

Participants will include members of Rising New York Road Runners, NYRR's free youth program that serves over 137,000 students nationwide, including nearly 60,000 in New York City.

Both events are free of charge for runners, and NYRR asks that you record your one mile using Strava. The Black Lives Matter 1M runs from July 1 through July 12, and you can sign up for it here.

NYRR plans to host the Brooklyn Half at its traditional time this May at a full capacity of 27,000 runners. The event has been run virtually each of the past two years because of the pandemic.
