NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A North Providence town employee is suffering from methanol poisoning and another is facing charges, after what some officials are characterizing as a prank gone wrong at the Department of Public Works.

A North Providence town worker was arrested after allegedly filling a Gatorade bottle with wiper fluid and poisoning his co-worker.

The town HR director says hiring Alessio D’Andrea, who is also facing gun charges, was a “failure of human resources.”
