BOISE, Idaho — The 'No Kings' Protest is a nationwide movement with rallies happening all over the country, including Idaho. Thousands of people gathered in downtown Boise to display their frustrations aimed at President Donald Trump. I spoke with protesters and found they have a variety of different grievances against the current administration.

A national day of action, dubbed "NO KINGS," took place on Saturday at the State Capitol building in Boise, as a response to what organizers describe as "increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption from President Donald Trump and his allies.

Around 2,000 protests were planned on Saturday in opposition to President Donald Trump. Large crowds turned out in cities like Portland, Denver, Chicago, Houston and Los Angeles – and in smaller communities in traditionally conservative areas.

Organizers of "No Kings" protests have scheduled demonstrations in more than a dozen cities across the Gem State to coincide with what they describe as an expensive display of presidential power. The coordinated protests target what organizers call government overreach under the Trump administration.

Hours after the Boise rally brought thousands to the Idaho State Capitol, Nampa’s own “No Kings” rally brought hundreds of the city’s residents to Nampa City Hall.

No Kings protests took place across the country from New York City to Atlanta to Los Angeles. The 50502 Movement, which stands for 50 states, 50 protests, one movement, said the nationwide protests are aimed at calling attention to what they say are authoritarian actions of the Trump administration.

Thousands are expected to take to the streets across Colorado on Saturday as part of a national day of action against the Trump administration.

Police in Los Angeles, where protests over federal immigration enforcement raids erupted a week earlier and sparked demonstrations across the country, used tear gas and crowd-control munitions to clear out protesters on Saturday.
