A sentencing date is now set for State Sen. Nicole Mitchell, who was convicted last week on two felony burglary charges for breaking into her estranged stepmother's Detroit Lakes home.

A guilty verdict for one state senator and the sudden death of another could reshape who's in charge in the Senate.

Mitchell announced Monday that she will step down from the Senate no later than Aug. 4. Her exit will leave the chamber tied.
