George Russell won his first race of the Formula 1 season as the Mercedes driver held off defending race winner Max Verstappen at the Canadian Grand Prix.

Mercedes’ George Russell has won the Canadian Grand Prix, leading home Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Mercedes teammate Kimi Antonelli as McLaren failed to reach the podium for the first time this season after a late-race collision between Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.

Mercedes driver George Russell took the checkered flag Sunday at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal. It’s the first win of the season for Russell, who started on pole position, and the fourth of his career.
