A 25-year-old DOGE staffer was accidentally given permissions to edit the Treasury Department's payments system, according to court records.

A New York federal judge issued an order blocking DOGE's access to treasury payments after 19 Democratic state attorneys general sued the Trump administration.

The DOGE staffer has been identified as Marko Elez, and earlier in the day he had controversially been given approval by a federal judge to access the U.S. Treasury’s payments database, along with a second employee working for Musk (pictured). While the judge did give him access, he restricted his ability to share data held within the system.

Prior to resigning from the Treasury Department, Marko Elez at one point had "read/write permissions" to the Secure Payment System, Joseph Gioeli III indicated in a court filing.
