The former Spain international replaces Carlo Ancelotti, who has departed to become head coach of the Brazil national team.

Real Madrid have officially announced Carlo Ancelotti will step down as manager following the LaLiga clash against Real Sociedad. The legendary Italian returned to the club for a second spell in 2021, winning a pair of league titles as well as leading the club to further Champions League success in 2022 and 2024.

Carlo Ancelotti says his bond with Real Madrid "is eternal" as he prepares to leave the Spanish club this weekend to become head coach of Brazil.
