Repairs on sinkhole shutting down eastbound Interstate 80 in New Jersey will take at least three more weeks to repair.

The stretch of I-80 eastbound through Wharton will remain closed with a detour route as the Department of Transportation continues with repairs. The DOT offered no estimate as to when the highway would be fully open.

A sinkhole that has closed all eastbound lanes of Interstate-80 through a stretch of New Jersey since last week will take an additional three weeks to assess and repair, an official said Monday.
