DENVER ( KDVR) — A man snowshoeing in Colorado’s San Juan Mountains survived with only minor injuries after being partially buried by an avalanche on Sunday.

A skier died in an avalanche, Colorado officials said. On Jan. 7, a backcountry skier was “caught, buried, and killed in an avalanche on Red Mountain Number 3” near Bollywood, according to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center.

The Minnesota Wild hosted the Colorado Avalanche for their first season meeting on Thursday evening, Jan. 9. The Wild were still without Kirill Kaprizov, Brock Faber, Jared Spurgeon, and Jakub Lauko.

With the eight-game point streak coming to a halt last night, the Colorado Avalanche have an opportunity to quickly rebound on the second night of a back-to-back with a win against one of the top teams in the NHL thus far this season.
